Our Algorithms

Proprietary investing models that translate market breadth, macro liquidity and credit conditions into a single, rules-based reading.

Proprietary Investing Algorithms

Our own models — breadth, macro, regime and ratio suites — built and run inside the CandelaCharts workspace, so the research, the reading and the chart are the same product
Breadth

Breadth & Participation

Dip Index, Dip Index Sectors and the Composite Risk Index measure how much of the market is actually moving with it, not just what the index did. A rally carried by a handful of names reads differently from a broad one, and these models put that difference on the chart — so participation is judged by the average stock, and deterioration shows up before the headline index rolls over.
Macro

Macro & Liquidity Models

Macro Credit Model, Macro Liquidity Gap, Macro Horizon Model and the Contango Slope Index read the plumbing behind equities — credit spreads, liquidity and curve shape — before those conditions reach price.
Regime

Regime & Exposure Models

Volatility Regime, Cycle Capitulation, Dynamic Exposure and Quantitative Equity Models turn the readings into a stance: how much risk the tape supports, whether the cycle is stretching, and what exposure the evidence justifies.
Ratios

Risk & Return Ratios

Sharpe, Sortino, Omega, Calmar, Tail Ratio, Shiller PE and Period ROI on the chart's own series — the same institutional scorecards, computed live instead of copied from a monthly factsheet. Each is annualised over a rolling window, so the return is weighed against the risk it took, not only against its own past — and the extra return has to justify the extra drawdown.

The Suite

Available Algorithms

The suite's headline models — cycle and breadth readings through credit, liquidity and volatility regimes — with the rest runnable in the chart workspace.
Pro
BREADTH

Dip Index

A market breadth oscillator measuring the percentage of an index's constituents trading above a selected moving average.
Pro
BREADTH

Dip Index Sectors

The Dip Index applied across the eleven S&P sectors — signed breadth from trend distance and participation, sorted into broad, narrow or mixed.
Pro
CAPITULATION

Cycle Capitulation Model

How far price sits below its 200-day and 48-month averages — the tactical and generational capitulation thresholds, shaded while either is active.
Pro
CREDIT

Macro Credit Model

Credit spreads as a regime gauge — the Z-score of the high-yield premium, from stressed and widening to calm and tightening.
Pro
MACRO

Macro Horizon Model

Price against a six-month average carried six months forward — the gap between current mood and the tone of lagging news, in four states.
Pro
LIQUIDITY

Macro Liquidity Gap

Global money supply growth against the index it is supposed to fund — the divergence that marks liquidity-driven turning points.
Pro
ALLOCATION

Quantitative Equity Model

A rules-based equity allocation — regime, risk, valuation, sentiment and macro, weighted into one position size from 0% to 100%.
Pro
VOLATILITY

Volatility Regime Model

Classifies volatility into regimes, times how long a spike has persisted, and checks it against bond volatility and credit before calling it noise or a shift.
Pro
MOMENTUM

Dynamic Exposure Model

A position sizer: volatility-scaled momentum across six horizons, cut back whenever the asset's own volatility runs above normal, and held until the target drifts.
Pro
BOLLINGER

Bollinger %B Model

Thirty Bollinger %B horizons stacked into one heatmap ribbon — where the close sits inside every band from 14 to 364 bars, and whether they agree.

Data Coverage

What the models are actually reading: every instrument and macro series is loaded live on the chart, so a screenshot never has to be taken on faith.

Data

What Data We Have So Far

Market instruments — indices, sectors, futures, ETFs, forex and crypto — plus FRED macro series: CPI, payrolls, credit spreads, the yield curve and money supply. Everything is pulled live on the chart, and older history pages in as you scroll back, so a model can be read from its first bar.
